Amal Rescue Turtle

female Green turtle (RB.CM.031), admitted 14 November 2019, Landaa Giraavaru, Baa Atoll, Maldives

Weight / Length: 8.0kg / 42.1cm (on admission);

 

Amal was found by Four Seasons Landaa Giraavaru during a sunset cruise. She was entangled in a ghost net with another turtle (Zubeen, an Olive Ridley).

Amal suffers from injuries on her front right flipper and back flipper. She was transferred to Kuda Huraa for close observation and treatment. She is able to dive down and rest at the bottom of the pool.

November Updates

On 22 November, Amal was transferred to the Olive Ridley Project (see here), for specialised veterinary care (thanks, guys!).

January 2020

On 6 January, Amal left the ORP and was transferred back to our turtle rescue centre. After 24 hours of observation in her recovery pool, she was successfully released from our turtle enclosure out in the lagoon.
