Zubeen
female Olive Ridley turtle (RB.LO.182), admitted 14 November 2019, Landaa Giraavaru, Baa Atoll, Maldives
Weight / Length: 14.2kg / 49.7cm (on admission);
Zubeen was found by our guests and boat crew on a sunset cruise, here at Four Seasons Landaa Giraavaru. She was entangled in a ghost net (drifting, discarded fishing gear) along with a second turtle (a Green turtle, Amal).
Zubeen suffers from deep lacerations on the front flippers, lacerations to the back left flipper and damage to the carapace (shell). She is being treated for a fracture on the end of her flipper, and at the moment she is unable to dive below the water surface in her recovery pool (‘sea turtle floatation syndrome’).
