Toro was found floating near Soneva Jani in Noonu Atoll and was transferred to our Turtle Rehabilitation Centre at Landaa Giraavaru (Maldives) on 14 August. He arrived in poor body condition and was markedly underweight. The right front flipper was already missing, with the wound fully healed at the time of admission.

Since arrival, Toro has remained buoyant and unable to achieve sustained diving, remaining predominantly at the water’s surface. A sufficient feeding regime has been implemented to support gradual weight gain, improve his overall body condition and increase his strength, with the aim of improving his diving ability. His condition continues to be closely monitored, with particular attention to weight, appetite, swimming ability, buoyancy, and overall clinical status.
