Taloola
female Olive Ridley turtle (RB.LO.165), admitted 23 March 2019, Kuda Huraa, Gili Lankanfushi, N.Malé Atoll, Maldives
Weight / Length: 18.5kg / 55.4cm (on admittance);
This female Olive Ridley turtle was found entangled in a discarded cement bag by the staff at Gili Lankanfushi resort (North Male Atoll).
Sadly, she has a deep flipper laceration, with exposed bone and some infected tissue. Our experienced team of turtle experts have been busy treating the wound and administering antibiotics, and we are closely monitoring her progress in our recovery pool.
UPDATE: Taloola has been transferred to the ORP for specialised veterinary care – she required an amputation and was suffering from an infection. The operation was successful, and she is currently in recovery.
