Talia Rescue Turtle

female Olive Ridley turtle (RB.LO.181), admitted 13 November 2019, Lux Resort, Ari Atoll, Maldives

Weight / Length: 15.0kg / 49.3cm (on admission);

 

Talia was found by the MWSRP entangled in a net. She suffers from lacerations on her back and right front flipper.

Talia is under observation and receiving treatment for her wounds. She is able to dive down and rest at the bottom of her pool.

Updates 21 November

Talia was transferred to the ORP (here) for specialist veterinary care. She needed surgery on her back flipper; bone fragments and dead tissue were removed, and she is currently under close observation.

Following the surgery, Talia’s wounds are healing, and she is on antibiotics.
