Squeaky Rescue Turtle

female Olive Ridley turtle (RB.LO.214), admitted 1 July 2020, Como Maalifishi,  Thaa Atoll, Maldives

Weight / Length: 13.3kg / 51.6cm (on admission);

On arrival from Como Maalifushi, this female Olive Ridley turtle was found to be suffering body abrasions and amputation of the front left flipper.

Squeaky was given a fresh-water bath to help with re-hydration, followed by a body scrub to remove all the algae and dead skin. She is weak and lethargic, but she doesn’t present buoyancy problems (is able to dive down to the bottom of the recovery pool).
