MaracujaRescue Turtle

female Olive Ridley turtle (RB.LO.219), admitted 26 March 2021, Helengeli, N.Male’ Atoll, Maldives

Weight / Length: 13.2kg / 45.7cm (on admittance);

Maracuja, a female Olive Ridley sea turtle, was found at OBLU Helengeli (North Malé Atoll, Maldives) suffering from a recent laceration of her left front flipper.

On arrival at our turtle recovery centre (at Kuda Huraa), she was observed to be suffering from slight buoyancy syndrome (floating on the water surface, unable to dive) but after administering some fluids and veterinary care, she slowly regained the ability to dive again.

Maracuja’s injured flipper is capable of full mobility, so we are hoping for rapid healing and a prompt return back to the ocean.
