female Olive Ridley turtle (RB.LO.158), admitted 5 March 2019, OBLU Helengeli, N.Male Atoll, Maldives
Weight / Length: 32.0kg / 60.4cm (on admittance);
Koopa, was found near OBLU Helengeli (North Male Atoll) entangled with 2 other turtles in a drifting ghost net (discarded fishing gear). She was admitted to our Centre on 5 March with lacerations on her flippers and neck.
Koopa is able to dive and rest at the bottom of the pool, (no buoyancy problems) and once her injuries are healed she will be released back into the ocean.

27 March 2019 … Release Day!
Koopa was successfully released back into the ocean today.
She is the first of our turtles to be wearing our new metal tags on her front flippers (MS0001 – MS0002). If anyone spots Koopa in the future, either in the ocean or nesting on a beach, they can contact us here at Marine Savers!
