Georgia Rescue Turtle

female Olive Ridley turtle (RB.LO.205), admitted 7 March 2020, Kuda Huraa, N.Malé Atoll, Maldives

Weight / Length: 25.0kg / 57.7cm (on admission);

Georgia was spotted by our marine biologist, from the boat during a guest snorkelling trip, entangled in a ghost net with some marine debris. Our team jumped into the water to free the turtle from the net, and brought her aboard the boat.

On admission to our turtle rescue centre, Georgia presented some lacerations and abrasions on her flippers and neck. She started eating in the first couple of days and is now sitting low in the water (not buoyant). We hope for her prompt recovery so we can return her back into the wild.
