Conna
juvenile Hawksbill turtle (RB.EI.037), admitted 8 February 2020, Voavah, Baa Atoll, Maldives
Weight / Length: 0.8kg / 26.6cm (on admission);
Conna, a juvenile Hawksbill, was found on 8 February 2020, by our Four Seasons colleagues at Voavah (Four Seasons Private Island in Baa Atoll). She was entangled in a ghost net alongside an Olive Ridley turtle (Macau). Luckily the net did not inflict any major injuries and the wounds she has are superficial, so they should heal quickly.
On arrival at our Centre, Conna was given a freshwater bath for re-hydration and a good clean, including the removal of the barnacles growing on her carapace. The wounds were tended and treatment was given. She is already diving and feeding, and is now a lot more active, so we are hoping for a quick release.

18 February … release day !
Under the watchful eye of our marine biologists, and following 10 days of TLC at our turtle rescue centre, Conna was soon fit and healthy again and ready for release.
To mark the 10-year anniversary of our turtle conservation efforts in the Maldives, Conna was released from the Turtle Safari excursion at a well-known Hawksbill turtle feeding ground. She was waved on her journey by a small group of enthusiastic guests.
Bon voyage, Conna. 💚
