Cassiopeia
female Olive Ridley turtle (RB.LO.212), admitted 26 April 2020, Landaa Giraavaru, Baa Atoll, Maldives
Weight / Length: 10.2kg / 46.5cm (on admission);
Cassiopeia was found entangled in a ghost net, by fellow resort staff here at Four Seasons Landaa Giraavaru (Baa Atoll).
She was suffering from severe dehydration, abrasions on the carapace and a deep laceration on the plastron (underside). She was immediately placed in a fresh water bath and given fluids for re-hydration.
Cassiopeia is receiving a course of antibiotics and her wounds are being debrided and treated with antiseptics. She’s already very active and eating well, and is able to dive and rest on the bottom of her turtle recovery pool.
We are hoping for a quick recovery and release!

10 May … Release Day! 🙂
Cassiopeia completed her treatment, and all of her wounds are healed. In the two weeks she spent with us, she gained weight and strength and now she’s able to dive, rest on the bottom and chase her food.
On 10 May, she was successfully released back in to the ocean. 💙 Best of luck, Cass!
