Alexia
female Olive Ridley turtle (RB.LO.201), admitted 14 February 2020, Sultans, N.Malé Atoll, Maldives
Weight / Length: 12.0kg / 46.0cm (on admission);
Alexia was found with another turtle (Valentine), entangled in a discarded ghost net, floating on the ocean surface close to Sultans surf spot. She was rescued by our Tropic Surf colleagues and brought to our Marine Biologist for attention.
Alexia presents lacerations on her plastrum and deep abrasions on her head and around her body. She is very active and trying to dive in our turtle rehabilitation pool. She is under observation, treatments and antibiotics and we hope we can release her back into the wild soon.

24 February 2020 … Release Day!
After a rapid 10-day recovery at our turtle rescue centre, Alexia was successfully released back into the ocean on 24 February. We attached metal clip tags to her flippers, MS0025-26.
Bon voyage, Alexia, and stay out of trouble! 🙂
