Appearance:
- Growth form is corymbose cushions
- Short and uniform branches
- Polyps often extended during the day giving a “fuzzy” appearance
Colour: Often brightly coloured green, pink, or blue. Tips often lighter colour.
Axial Corallites: Distinctive and tubular
Radial Corallites:
- Crowded, uniform size
- Prominent lower edges gives overall scaly appearance
Similar species: Acropora hyacinthus forms plates and polyps not extended during day.
Environment: Shallow reef flats, lagoons and upper reef slopes.
