Zaby Rescue Turtle

female Olive Ridley turtle (RB.LO.186), admitted 16 December 2019, Waldorf Astoria, S.Malé Atoll, Maldives

Weight / Length: 2.3kg / 25.7cm (on admission);

 

Zaby was found floating on the ocean surface, entangled in a ghost net, by the Marine Biologist of Waldorf Astoria (in South Malé Atoll).

Zaby was sent to us on 16 December for treatment and rehabilitation, as she was dehydrated and presented lacerations on her right front flipper due to the net.
She will spend a couple of weeks with us for rehabilitation, and will soon be fit again for release.

1 February 2020 … Release Day !

Zaby’s wounds healed quickly, and she was successfully released back into the open ocean on 1 February, from a guest excursion dhoni.
