Pine Cone
juvenile Hawksbill turtle (RB.EI.026), admitted 29 June 2018, Landaa Giraavaru, Baa Atoll, Maldives
Length / Weight: 12.9cm / 0.325kg (on admission); 22.5cm / 1.5kg (Oct-18); 24.6cm / 1.7kg (on release).
This post-hatchling Hawksbill turtle arrived at our Centre with a cut on her front flipper and breathing problems. Pine Cone is already diving for her food and resting at the bottom of the pool. He is improving, so we hope for a quick recovery and return back to the wild.

Updates September – October 2018
Pine Cone is healthy and growing really fast, so we moved her to a larger shared pool of more mature turtles. She loves to rest at the bottom of the pool, and is gaining confidence around the other turtles.

14 November 2018 … Release Day!
Pine Cone was successfully released today, during our Turtle Safari close to the island of Makunudo.
It took her a few moments to get her bearings, but upon realising she was back home again, Pine Cone quickly dove down to the sea bed, for a snack on the reef!
