juvenile Olive Ridley turtle (RB.LO.142), admitted 23 November 2018, Kuda Huraa, N.Malé Atoll, Maldives
Weight / Length: 2.5kg / 27.5cm (on admittance);
This post-hatchling Olive Ridley turtle was found by some of our guests while paddle-boarding near the house reef at Kuda Huraa. She was entangled in a ghost net and marine debris, so was rescued by our Water Sports team. On admission, she presented some abrasions and a small chip on the carapace.
Nonamee is already starting to dive, so we hope to release her in a couple of weeks once her injuries have healed.
Update 2 December
Nonamee had stopped eating, so we were tube-feeding daily to build up her strength. Sadly, she died this morning, and a necropsy revealed a bacterial infection of the intestine.
