LunaRescue Turtle

juvenile Hawksbill turtle (RB.EI.033), admitted 22 May 2019, Landaa Giraavaru, Baa Atoll, Maldives

Weight / Length: 6.6kg / 38.3cm (on admission);

Luna was found stranded on the beach, covered in sand, right in front of our Marine Discovery Centre at Landaa Giraavaru.

Luna didn’t show any injuries upon admission, and she was able to dive, eat and rest on the bottom of our turtle recovery pool. After removing the algae and barnacles from her body, she was transferred to the ocean enclosure for further observation.

During her time in the pen, she was diving and resting on the bottom.

30 May 2019

We were able to release Luna today. We brought her back to the Centre for a full meal (which she ate very quickly) and then we released her from the side of the enclosure.
