Jahura Rescue Turtle

female Olive Ridley turtle (RB.LO.185), admitted 6 December 2019, Kuredu, Lhaviyani Atoll, Maldives

Weight / Length: 25.0kg / 58.3cm (on admission);

Jahura was found floating on the ocean surface, entangled in a drifting ghost net, and rescued by the Marine Biologist at Kanuhura. The turtle was initially brought to  Kuredu Island Resort (Lhaviyani Atoll, Maldives), and transferred to our turtle rescue centre (Kuda Huraa) on 6 December.

On arrival, Jahura presented lacerations on her flippers, and she is currently undergoing treatment. Thankfully, she presents no buoyancy issues, and is able to freely dive around her recovery pool, so we are hoping for a quick recovery and release.
