Way back in December 2012, our team of Marine Savers biologists welcomed a very unusual guest … a false killer whale! This 300kg/3m gentle giant was was found stranded in the lagoon at Landaa Giraavaru, in a weakened state and unable to swim properly. Read about the rescue attempt and enjoy some exciting photos.
On 8 November 2011, around 300 false killer whales were spotted, cruising with bottlenose dolphins a few hundred meters south of Landaa Giraavaru. It was a fantastic sight, and quite a rare one too – enjoy the video clip we made.
