4th July – Release of ‘Jesse’

‘Jesse’ is our juvenile Olive Ridley turtle, rescued from a ghost net by Coco Palm Dhuni Kolhu boat crew on 24th June. She is quite small at just 25cm, and was dehydrated on arrival and suffering from deep puncture wounds to the carapace. Her wounds were cleaned out, and we admitted her to the rehabilitation pools to keep a close eye on her progress.

We started feeding Jesse a range of healthy foods to build up her strength again, and she made a very quick recovery back to health. We are happy to report that Jesse was successfully released back into the ocean in a quiet operation on a cloudy 4th July day.
