Length / Weight: 22.3cm / 1.25kg (on admission);

A post hatchling hawksbill turtle was found by our Recreation staff, entangled in a ghost net near a Sand Bank in North Malé Atoll. Shelby was brought to us with a cut in the carapace, but she is diving in our recovery pool and has started trying some food. She will stay at our turtle care centre until she is healthy enough to return to the wild.

The cuts on Shelby’s front flipper were very deep so we needed to amputate. She is recovering well, and is able to dive and rest at the bottom of the recovery pool.
